Sovereign Poll Dorsets will be offering 20 of our top rams at the Inglewood Multi Breeds ram sale.
 May /June 2025 lambs at weaning on 26 September. We think they look pretty good and have the carcass shape we are looking for. Video below of the same lambs. With some outstanding lambs on the ground in 2024 we entered the show ring with some quiet confidence. Showing only at Warwick & Toowoomba Royal and later on the Brisbane EKKA we claimed supreme pair of rams, supreme champion ewe, supreme ram and supreme breeders group.  Champion of Champions Qld ram of the year Sov 88/24 with judge Leslie Brewer, Chris Rubie, Sovereign PD and Mrs Noeleen Byrnes. Heading to the EKKA our supreme winners from regional shows can only be exhibited in the Champion of Champions competition. Success at the EKKA with Champion of Champions ram and breeders group capped of a fantastic show year for us.  Champion of Champions Breeders Group, including Sovereign 88/24. Sovereign again had a 100% clearance at the February Inglewood sale this year with both repeat and new buyers in attendance. Top price of $2000 and second top of $1800 continued the good results, with an average price of $1264. Buyers continue to pay for that extra length and width in Sovereign rams that provides the heavier weights in their lambs at a younger age. We again had an outstanding year although showing only a very small team in 2024.
Supreme all breeds ram & ewe at Toowoomba Royal were highlights. Both being eligible to compete for Champion of Champions in Brisbane. Sovereign was also awarded Supreme pair. The Supreme ram from Toowoomba Royal went on to Brisbane to win the Champion of Champions prize at the EKKA. That is now four in a row! The ewe was busy having twins so was not taken to Brisbane to compete. Sovereign again had a 100% clearance at the February Inglewood sale this year with both repeat and new buyers in attendance.
Equal top price of $1400 went to Cliff & Margaret Schutt from “Beulah Park” Hannaford and Boyd Bignell from “Widgeegoara” Cunnamulla. Both are long-term clients for Sovereign and both look for that extra length and width of body that provides the heavier weights in their lambs at a younger age. EMA 28.0 (at 8 months) 2023 was one of our best show years ever. This year the Warwick Show was the biggest circuit show in Qld outside of Brisbane. Showing 10 month old stud lambs only, we picked up Supreme all breeds breeders group; Supreme all breeds ewe; and Reserve all breeds ram. The following week at Toowoomba Royal Show, Sovereign took top honours in six of the seven interbreed competitions including ram, ewe; ram and ewe pair; breeders group; interbreed pair of rams; and Performance ram. Later in the year we headed to the EKKA to see if we could defend our title for Qld champion of champions ram. This year we went a little better in the Champion & Champions judging and claimed both Champion and Reserve in the ram class, followed by the Champion of Champions breeders group which included our keeper ram and his twin sister.  The annual Inglewood multi breed ram sale was held on the last Friday of February 2023.
Our Sovereign rams again this year were keenly sought after and topped at $2000 with an average of $1410 across the 20 rams offered. The young 9-10 month old ram lambs sold very strongly. We plan to again include some ram lambs in our 2024 sale offering. Following the Inglewood multi breed sale, more Sovereign rams were sold around the region and to repeat clients in central west Queensland. Sovereign will be offering 20 of our top rams at the Inglewood Multi Breeds sale.

Video of first cross lambs sired by Sovereign rams at 'Widgeegoora', Cunnamulla Qld. Drew Bignell from 'Widgeegoora' commented, "Lead 500 were taken out and processed a few months ago and remainder have been here at Cunnamulla. Average across 700 lambs – 73kg, with a top of 91.5kg. Incredible results and great lambs."  First cross lambs at weaning on Paula Dean’s “Notus Downs” property south of Longreach.  |
