<![CDATA[2024 Show Season Results]]>Sat, 07 Dec 2024 01:26:11 GMThttp://sovereignpolldorsets.com.au/salesshowsandevents/2024-show-season-results
We again had an outstanding year although showing only a very small team in 2024.
Supreme all breeds ram & ewe at Toowoomba Royal were highlights. Both being eligible to compete for Champion of Champions in Brisbane. Sovereign was also awarded Supreme pair.
The Supreme ram from Toowoomba Royal went on to Brisbane to win the Champion of Champions prize at the EKKA. That is now four in a row!
The ewe was busy having twins so was not taken to Brisbane to compete.

<![CDATA[2024 Inglewood Ram Sale Results]]>Sat, 07 Dec 2024 01:09:06 GMThttp://sovereignpolldorsets.com.au/salesshowsandevents/2024-inglewood-ram-sale-resultsSovereign again had a 100% clearance at the February Inglewood sale this year with both repeat and new buyers in attendance.
Equal top price of $1400 went to Cliff & Margaret Schutt from “Beulah Park” Hannaford and Boyd Bignell from “Widgeegoara” Cunnamulla.
Both are long-term clients for Sovereign and both look for that extra length and width of body that provides the heavier weights in their lambs at a younger age.
We look forward to the 2025 sale on 28th February at Inglewood.

<![CDATA[2023 Show Results - one of our best years ever!]]>Mon, 04 Dec 2023 04:04:44 GMThttp://sovereignpolldorsets.com.au/salesshowsandevents/2023-show-results-one-of-our-best-years-ever2023 was one of our best show years ever.
This year the Warwick Show was the biggest circuit show in Qld outside of Brisbane.
Showing 10 month old stud lambs only, we picked up Supreme all breeds breeders group; Supreme all breeds ewe; and Reserve all breeds ram.
The following week at Toowoomba Royal Show, Sovereign took top honours in six of the seven interbreed competitions including ram, ewe; ram and ewe pair; breeders group; interbreed pair of rams; and Performance ram.
Later in the year we headed to the EKKA to see if we could defend our title for Qld champion of champions ram.
This year we went a little better in the Champion & Champions judging and claimed both Champion and Reserve in the ram class, followed by the Champion of Champions breeders group which included our keeper ram and his twin sister.

Our Sovereign rams again this year were keenly sought after and topped at $2000 with an average of $1410 across the 20 rams offered.
The young 9-10 month old ram lambs sold very strongly.
We plan to again include some ram lambs in our 2024 sale offering.
Following the Inglewood multi breed sale, more Sovereign rams were sold around the region and to repeat clients in central west Queensland.

Sovereign has completed a small AI program this year with lambs on the ground in early May.
At only about 3 weeks of age these lambs looked absolutely outstanding and were showing great length, growth and already developing muscle shape.
They will definitely be the lambs we look to for the next show and sale season. Hopefully there will be a new sire amongst this group.

More photos, and a video below of some of these lambs at just 3 weeks old.

Sovereign Poll Dorsets sweep the interbreeds awards at Warwick.
With a renewed desire across the industry for showing, there was an outstanding display of stud sheep that overflowed the Warwick Show venue on 19 March.
Saturday morning the stud sheep judging began early with over 100 sheep paraded before the judge.
Sovereign Poll Dorsets had an outstanding day and completed the double, taking both Supreme all breeds champion ram and ewe.
The Interbreed pair of rams was again taken by Sovereign with two rams that the Judge said were very classy and very even.

Supreme Champion Ram of the Show Warwick - Sovereign 44/21
Supreme Champion Ram of the Show Toowoomba - Sovereign 49/21
Toowoomba Royal Show
Toowoomba Royal Show followed just days after Warwick Show however numbers were down due to several reasons. Sovereign again secured supreme ram of the show with another ram Sovereign 49/21.
Both these rams will be on display at the Brisbane Royal Show as they compete in the Champion of Champions for the Queensland Meat Sheep Ram of the year.

<![CDATA[Sale report - 2022 Inglewood multi breed flock ram sale]]>Sat, 02 Jul 2022 01:32:07 GMThttp://sovereignpolldorsets.com.au/salesshowsandevents/sale-report-annual-inglewood-multi-breed-ram-sale-feb-2022With extensive flooding around the region there was some thought from breeders and the Elders agents to cancel or postpone the sale. With some fine weather for a couple of days around sale day it was decided to proceed.
Despite a lot of clients being unable to attend Sovereign offered the usual 20 rams. It was very pleasing to have a total clearance of our rams under these circumstances.
This included 9-10 month-old ram lambs that averaged $1050.
Following this sale, rams have been sold around the region and to clients unable to attend due to the flooding and again into central west Queensland.
