Health Status
We have no other stock on our property and do not trade stock, hence it is easy for us to operate Sovereign as a partially closed flock and property. Any stud ram or stud ewes purchased have and will always come from flocks with a health status equal to or higher than our own.
Ovine Johne’s Disease
Queensland as a whole retains its protected status through a state wide Regional Biosecurity Plan which enables us to trade into most if not all states, when accompanied by a National Sheep Health Declaration.
Any rams or ewes purchased always come from flocks with a status equal to or higher than our own.
Ovine Brucellosis Accreditation
Sovereign Poll Dorsets are accredited free, under the Queensland Ovine Brucellosis Accreditation Scheme. We have been a part of this scheme for more than 35 years.
Our current certification QDWW0125 expires 31 May 2027.
Any stud rams or ewes purchased always come from flocks with Brucellosis free accreditation.
We strongly recommend you always purchase your rams from an Accredited Ovine Brucellosis free flock. Such is its importance that all Poll Dorset stud flocks must hold Ovine Brucellosis free accreditation to be registered with the Australian Poll Dorset Association.
Virulent Footrot and Cattle Tick
Our sheep are free from Virulent Footrot and our property is in a cattle tick free area.
